In write mode, the standard input shall be used only if no file
operands are specified. It shall be a file containing a list of
pathnames, each terminated by a <newline> character.
In list and read modes, if -f is not specified, the standard
input shall be an archive file.
Otherwise, the standard input shall not be used.
